Grand Teton and Yellowstone Parks

Every once in a while I take a vacation. A few weeks ago I decided to go one of the few places in the US that I have ever been; Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. I only had three full days to see both and I think I did a pretty good job getting my photos. I’ll post highlights from different days in random posts over the next week or so.

I went with few expectations, just getting really nice landscape shots, however after the first day I had high expectations. On the first day I photographed moose crossing Oxbend Bow with the mountains in the background and later on the same day I was withing ten feet of a black bear. This was exciting for me as it was my first bear encounter.

For the most part the bear was more interested in eating berries than eating anyone in the small group of onlookers. There was one sketchy moment when the bear decided to change direction towards me and it definitely concerned me, but things worked out.

I learned some of the best advice that day I possibly could for a bear encounter: Just don’t be the slowest person in the group and you’ll survive.

Enjoy part I:
